The definition of pheromones in the simplest terms; A kind of communication between organisms of the same species is defined as chemical components that provide signal exchange.
• Ants find their nests, bees and beehives very distant, even if they go far.
• Some insect larvae are immediately gathered and protected in case of danger.
• Many animal species have a clear control over the area they live in.
In addition, males and females who want to mate in all insect species can easily find each other, even at long distances. The common point in these behaviors is; is that it all happens through some kind of communication. There is a very important point to keep in mind when reading the information about living things communicating using pheromone. The formula that each species uses in pheromonal interaction is unique. The chemicals it contains are separate. A living thing that both secretes this substance and perceives the message to be transmitted with the secreted substance is aware of this formula (Sade, 2007; Breithought and Thiel, 2011).
In the years that followed, pheromones were detected in many animal species. The function of pheromone is related to the type of gravitational force. In researches on pheromone, this substance gives male moths the message 'come to me' and makes its effect on moths that are too far away. It means that a single female moth can attract almost 1 billion male moths to itself in a very short time as a result of leaving the pheromone in its sac.
Thanks to these properties, pheromones make us a great weapon in the fight against pests in agriculture.
• It is an important agricultural control method that we can use against target pest.
• The insect has no chance of developing immunity.
• It does not harm human and environmental health.
• It reduces the use of pesticides in agricultural production.
• It reduces agricultural input costs.
